Words from the Founder

It brings me immense joy to create educational and artistic spaces for children. My work is rooted in opening, facilitating, and reflecting the rich experiences that each audience member brings with them. Whether they are children, parents, librarians, educators, or artists, EVERYONE has something valuable to contribute. My role is to challenge and dismantle the power dynamics and divisions that traditionally separate roles within educational spaces. We are ALL protagonists, and we ALL belong to this shared journey we call Education.
My mission is to create meaningful artistic experiences that illuminate both our light and our shadows—spaces where invisible contracts of hope are formed, where we reconnect with our essence, and where we uncover our potential for personal and social transformation.
As a teaching artist, I am also a lifelong learner, exploring the intersections of music, storytelling, poetry, transformative writing, and drama through a bicultural lens. Since 2007, Criss Cross Mangosauce has trained and collaborated with many bilingual teaching artists, each an expert in their craft. Together, we harness our talents to bridge cultures through bilingual programs that:
- Connect families.
- Reconcile traditions, weaving together the past and the present.
- Bridge generational divides.
- Elevate children's voices into verse.
Through these programs, we strive to honor and celebrate culture—not by leaning on stereotypes but by embracing the deeper truths of identity and belonging. In this work, we return to a paradox: reclaiming the value that has always been within us.
