Due to the lack of resources and expertise, many pre-schools find the integration of foreign language and cultural experiences to be among the most challenging tasks. We offer a series of workshops designed to enhance teachers’ ability to incorporate multicultural components into their regular curriculum and routines.
Each workshop will include small group discussion, problem solving scenarios and an evaluation. In each training session, participants will be exposed to different artistic and language expressions. All presentations follow a simple and systematic structure which is easy to understand and can be immediately applied in a participant’s workplace. The following are a selection of the titles available:
- Introducing Bilingual Music into Daily Routines. Participants will be better prepared to use bilingual music as an educational tool in the classrooms. You will learn how to adapt these bilingual songs into school routines, integrating culture and reinforcing language, music and motor skills.
- How to Choose Authentic Bilingual Picture Books. Participants will learn techniques on how to recognize high quality, culturally authentic bilingual children’s picture books. After sharing a world of multicultural books and music, teachers will understand what means to be a multicultural reader.
- Stretching Your Storytelling Skills by Incorporating Bilingual Techniques. Participants will learn songs, finger-games, stories and short drama and puppetry shows to engage listeners in bilingual reading.
We employ the arts as a tool to teach Spanish. Children love this approach; they have a lot of fun while learning through dance, storytelling, music and creative drama. With our techniques, children build more than language skills; they also develop motor, verbal and social skills.
